Comparisons between the Two Models

With the introduction of the model offered in the Republic, we should already see some clear contrasts between it and the model offered by early Confucians. These comparisons and contrasts can further reveal hidden features, merits, and problems with each model, and help us to understand them more. This is the beauty of doing comparative studies between two allegedly different traditions, and even within allegedly the same tradition (e.g., the comparative works between Plato and Aristotle).
